25 walkers set out from Aberdeen last Sunday for a walk through Dunecht estate and to Barmekin Hill. The day was cold but dry and clear. After a comfort stop at Westhill we went on a few more miles to be dropped off at the gates of the Dunecht estate. Another group of walkers were there so the route we took was was going to be busy. We walked through the estate passing the imposing mansion then on into the country and up to the top of Barmekin Hill. The remains of the iron age hill fort here are still visible. We descended the hill and back into the estate via the loch and golf course to arrive back at our bus. The pub across the road was handy while we waited for latecomers. We arrived back in Aberdeen at about 3.45pm. Alastair
