Twenty three walkers turned up for today’s outing. The bus stopped at Braemar for a short comfort break before moving on to Linn o’Dee car park, where it remained for the day. Two walkers disembarked early near Inverey where they climbed up through the woods towards Carn Liath before returning to the bus in a clockwise direction. One of them returned with an antler which was found on the hill. One walker remained close by the bus to paint a view of the stone bridge at the Linn o’ Dee. The other walkers split into various groups to do a variety of walks, viz – A group of five walked to Sgor Mor & Sgor Dubh, – Nine walkers did a bit of heather bashing up Beinn Bhreac and three of them carried on to take in the second Munro – Beinn a’ Chaorainn – Three of the group did the shorter walk up Creag Bhalg before returning by Clais Fhearnaig – Two walkers took on Derry Cairngorm using the new temporary bridge at Derry Lodge and then went on to Loch Etchachan before descending into Glen Derry and back to the bus. – The last walker explored the area around the path near the salmon ladder on the west side of Lui Water. Parts of this path had been washed away by fairly recent heavy rains but nonetheless navigation was still possible. The weather was rather mixed on the day – starting out dull and overcast but later the sun did break through at times. It was a bit breezy on the tops and as the day wore on a light drizzle moved in from the north. Everyone enjoyed their day on the hills and we left on time, having a short stopover in Ballater before arriving safely back in Aberdeen around 9:30 p.m. Gilbert
