28 members set off on a sunny winter’s day and so it continued when we reached the Bennachie Visitor Centre. We then split up into a number of groups as Bennachie is another area where there are many paths and variations. Did all the new members realise that it is the crater of an extinct volcano? It was fine when we set off but as we went higher and the wind blew stronger, it became more difficult on the tops being buffeted by the fierce gusts. However, all survived to enjoy a stop in Inverurie, eventually. What a coincidence – the first time I was in charge of the bus, a committee member was late getting back and now on my last time in charge, another committee member was late. He shall be nameless, but he was restricted to one glass of wine at the stop. David
