We had 18 hardy walkers on today’s walk on a wet and breezy day with 12 alighting at Buckpool harbour for the main walk. A further 3 got off at Portgordon to do a slightly shorter version while the last 3 were dropped off at the Fochabers woods to do a short but interesting walk on the trails round that area.
The main walkers were going at a good pace as they caught up with the 3 doing the middle walk before Spey Bay where some of us went in to the cafe for coffee, hot chocolate or a bowl of soup. It was great to get somewhere warm for a break even if a good part of the route was sheltered from the wind and rain by trees and shrubs. On the way up to Fochabers there were places where the River Spey could be seen and the large volume of water due to all the rain we’ve been getting. Everyone was back by 2.30pm.
As it was not a day for dawdling and after refreshments for some we left early about 3.10pm and were back in Aberdeen about 2 hours earlier than planned. Hamish
