The wet weather in Aberdeen was not an encouraging start to our
day, however all nineteen walkers booked for the walk showed up. The rain eased
off on the drive to Glen Muick, but the prospect of bad weather on the high
tops meant that most walkers chose to stick to lower altitude walks. Two hardy
souls braved the climb to Lochnagar, where there was high winds and hail, and a
few others climbed to the top of Broad Cairn or walked the Capel Mounth circuit,
but visibility high up was poor.  The
lower level walkers enjoyed better conditions, with only light rain for most of
the day. Due to the poor weather, everyone got back to the coach in good time,
and we left about an hour and a half earlier than scheduled to enjoy a pub stop
in Ballater before the return to Aberdeen. Janet
