For this walk the club went to Glen Lethnot, one the lesser known Angus glens, but just as scenic as the more well known ones such as Clova or Esk.  From the bus going south we could see plenty of mist in the Angus hills, but fortunately they were to lift and the rest of the day would be mild and dry.

After a short ‘comfort’ stop at Edzell we made our way through the narrow winding roads to Stonyford at Glen Lethnot where we got off to start our walk.  We all followed the route on the sheet, except 3 who decided to do a slight detour and catch up the main group later.  A couple stayed on the bus – one to get off at Tarfside to do a shorter walk, and one to go on to Invermark to spend the day there.  Our driver proved her excellent driving skills by doing the narrowest 3-point turn at Stonyford to take the road back to Edzell and Invermark with the assistance of 5 helpers.

The walk proved to be a challenge to our map-reading and navigational skills, due to the paths on the map not matching the new ones created on the estate over recent years.  However we all managed to find our way through the glen over to Invermark.  Some us decided to visit the Maule Monument at the Hill of Rowan dedicated to family members which owned the estate.  Everyone arrived back at the bus in good time after an enjoyable day.  There was even time for a few to go up to nearby Loch Lee before we left.  We stopped off at Edzell again on the way back for a well earned pub stop before heading off home.  Alastair
