With almost a full bus, today’s walk took us South to Fetteresso Forest. After a comfort stop in Stonehaven we continued to the start of the walk at a small car park on the Slug Road where the main group of 30 walkers were dropped off with 2 walkers remaining on the bus to the finishing point to do a shorter walk. The start of the main walk was steep and muddy with diversions due to fallen trees. We soon descended to walk along the Cowie Water before climbing steeply to continue on our path. The tail end group missed the turn off and landed up climbing over and under fences to regain the route. We entered Fetteresso Forest on good tracks and had lunch near the electricity substation. We continued to cross the bridge over the Cowie Water to reach our finishing point where the bus was parked. The weather remained overcast all day with only a brief shower in the afternoon. Everyone was safely back to the bus in ample time and we returned to Stonehaven for refreshments. Peter, our driver had us back in Aberdeen by 4.30pm. Alan
