23 of us set out last Sunday for a walk north of Ballater which took us from the farm at Lary to the village of Logie Coldstone about 10 miles away. The weather forecast was for rain early in the day then to dry out later in the morning, with winds throughout the day. After our bus driver successfully negotiated the narrow road to Lary we set out, some sticking to the route along the track at the bottom of Morven. Some hardy souls decided to ascend Morven as part of the walk then join us at Logie Coldstone later. An even more hardy walker also went up Morven then followed an extended route and finished at Logie Coldstone from the north. We all successfully completed our walks, enjoying the views even though in the far distance the hills were shrouded in mist. We all finished our walk earlier than expected. This meant that when we left to go home we enjoyed a slightly longer stop at the Boat Inn in Aboyne before completing our journey home. We arrived back in Aberdeen at about 5pm having had an enjoyable, and above all dry, day out.
