Tomnavoulin – Glacks of Balloch (Corriehabbie Hill)

Today, we are in Speyside to walk the hills to the south side of Dufftown.

Route 1
The walk commences at the Allanreid car park (NGR 236 248) S.E. of the village of Tomnavoulin. From the bus, head S.E. to follow the River Livet to a footbridge at NGR 249 239. Cross this bridge and follow the river (Glen Livet) east and then N.E. to the ruin of Suie. Continue from here to a split in the path (NGR 277 251). Turn left and continue on this wide track alongside the Back Burn for almost 2 miles to another junction in the paths (NGR 289 281). Turn left and take the ascending and zig-zagging route to the summit of Corriehabbie Hill (NGR 284 296). From the summit, head N.E. along “Morton’s Way” to a T-junction at NGR 296 314, turn right east then N.E. towards Glenfiddich Lodge. Just before this lodge at a junction at NGR 317 328, turn east and walk along the bank of the River Fiddich, cross a footbridge (NGR 322 326) and continue N.E., past a split in the path (NGR 338 328). Go N.E. to reach the A941 near Glacks of Balloch. The bus will be parked at a slip road near “Glacks of Balloch” (NGR 352 342).

Route 2
The same route as above past Suie at (NGR 277 251). Turn left and continue on this wide track alongside the Back Burn for almost 2 miles to another junction in the paths (NGR 289 281). Instead of turning left continue N.E. along the River Fiddich past Elf House (NGR 297 293) to a junction in paths at NGR 324 323 just after crossing the river. Turn right continue N.E. At a split in the path (NGR 338 328). Go N.E. to reach the A941 near Glacks of Balloch. The bus will be parked at a slip road near “Glacks of Balloch” (NGR 352 342).

Route 3  Bridgehaugh to Glacks of Balloch via Glenfiddich Lodge
Start at the small car park at Bridgehaugh (NGR 341 358). Cross the road and walk through the gate marked Glen Fiddich Estate. Walk SW along Glen Fiddich for approximately 3 kilometres until you reach Glenfiddich Lodge. Continue past there until you cross a footbridge (NGR 322 326) and continue N.E., past a split in the path (NGR 338 328). Go N.E. to reach the A941 near Glacks of Balloch. The bus will be parked at a slip road near “Glacks of Balloch” (NGR 352 342).
