N.B. 8.00am start from Aberdeen.

Today, we are back in Speyside to walk the hills to the south side of Dufftown. Ray Kemp suggested this walk and your Committee included it in our 2016 Programme. Your Club have not been in this area since June 2012, where the day was extremely wet and the streams were high and most difficult to cross. This walk is a through one, so members who require a shorter, or different walk – please indicate your intentions with your committee member in charge of the bus, so that early discussions can take place with the driver.

The walk commences at the Allanreid car park (NGR 236 248) to the SE of the village of Tomnavoulin. From the bus, head SE’wards to follow the River Livet to a footbridge at NGR 249 239. Cross this bridge and follow the river (Glen Livet) E’wards and then NE’wards to the ruin of Suie. Continue from here to a split in the path (NGR 277 251). Go left and continue on this wide track alongside the Back Burn for almost 2miles (NGR 289 281). At this point, take the ascending and zigzagging route to the summit of Corriehabbie Hill (742m). From the summit, head NE’wards along “Morton’s Way” to a T junction at NGR 296 314, where we go right (E’wards) then NE’wards towards Glen Fiddich Lodge. Just before this lodge, go E’wards at a T-junction and go along the shores of the River Fiddich, cross a footbridge (NGR 322 326) and continue NE’wards for almost 3 miles, past a split in the path (NGR 338 328), where you can go either SE’wards OR NE’wards to gain the A941. The bus will be parked at a slip road near “Glacks of Balloch” (NGR 352 342).

Walking distance approx. 14miles

Bus departs at 6.00pm for our short pub stop in Dufftown.
