The walk today, takes your Club back into the Strathdon area. We start the walk in the village of Tomintoul and walk southwards to end at the foot of the steep A939 Lecht road at Cockbridge. Moira West suggested this walk in 2014 and your Committee included it in the 2016 Programme.

This walk is a through-one, so members who require a shorter, or alternative, walk, please indicate your intentions with your committee member in charge of the bus.

Our walk starts at Tomintoul (NGR 171 183), where we head SW’wards on a unclassified metalled road to a turn off (NGR 164 176) at a small car park. Go left (S’wards) and follow this track for almost 4 miles passing Delavorar, Birchfield and Torbain on the way to our turn off at NGR 165 114. Turn left on to the path alongside the Burn of Little Fergie. Head SE’wards into “The Eag” and follow this path crossing the Feith Bhait to reach the main path at NGR 210 082, coming up from Inchrory. Go left, E’wards, at this point and pass Inchmore to gain the buildings which were around the area of the once Delnadamph Lodge. Walk along this unclassified metalled road for about 2.25 miles, above the south side of the River Don, to reach our bus parked at Cockbridge (NGR 257 092). The Allargue Arms Hotel will be open & the bus should be at or near the hotel.

Bus departs from Cockbridge at 6.00pm.
