N.B. 8.00am start from Aberdeen.
Today, we are back in one of the lesser known Angus Glens – Glen Lethnot. Terry Wood suggested this walk and it was included in the 2016 Programme. Your Club last did this walk on October 2010. The outing today is a through-one, so members who require a shorter, or different, walk – please indicate your intentions with your committee member in charge of the bus.
The walk commences at Stoneyford in lonely Glen Lethnot (NGR 505 726). From our drop-off point, we go NW‘wards towards Tillybardine, but at a split in the path before this farm (NGR 493 730), head right for almost 3 miles, then N’wards, past the east side of East Knock. Cross the Burn of Berryhill and go uphill past the west side of Cowie Hill to a split in the path (NGR 487 773). Turn left here (NW‘wards), and follow this track downhill to arrive at Dalbrack farm. Cross the River North Esk on a substantial stone bridge and soon arrive at the main unclassified Glen Lee road. Turn left on this road and, after about 200 yards, go through a gate on your right, to a path which ascends and goes around the west side of Hill of Rowan (with its memorial tower) to a split in the track at NGR 468 799. Turn left (W’wards), pass the farm of West Bank and onwards to our bus at the Invermark car park.
Walking distance approx. 10 miles.
Bus departs at 3.30pm.
In the event of an emergency arising, the person in charge of the outing should be contacted, if possible, before the police are contacted.
Relevant telephone number for Angus police is 101 (non emergency) or 999.
Committee member in charge today is Alistair Condie
