N.B. This walk has had to be shortened from the intended route due to coastal erosion on the cliff path between  St. Cyrus and Tangleha.

 

Our walk today along the coast through Johnshaven and Gourdon to Inverbervie is an easy one with little undulation. There are two drop off points: Johnshaven and just north of St Cyrus.

 

Route 1 St Cyrus to Inverbervie.

The walk starts at NGR  759657 beside the holiday park north of St Cyrus. Take the narrow road SE`wards to the coast and a few cottages at Tangleha, from here turn left to follow the coast NE (the path is to the left of a fence) passing Seagreens and through a narrow cutting in a cliff before reaching Johnshaven. Follow the road past the harbour and a caravan site at the north end of the village, here the track runs parallel to an old railway track passing Lathallan school and the Haughs of Benholm. Passing the harbour at Gourdon follow the low road between the houses,  reaching Seaview Terrace. Continue NE past Doolie Ness and Horse Crook Bay following either the surfaced cycle route or a path just above the shoreline which rejoins the tarred path as you come into Inverbervie. The bus will be in the car park overlooking Bervie Bay at(NGR833 723)

Route 2 Johnshaven to Inverbervie.

You will be dropped off at the bus stop at the top of the road down to Johnshaven NGR 796 675 Follow the road SW then New Road SE to the harbour passing the Anchor Hotel, on reaching the harbour NG 796 670 turn left and follow the instructions for route 1 from there.
