Walk Notes

This walk is a through one so anyone wanting a shorter, or different walk, please indicate your intentions with the person in charge of the outing today.

  1. The main walk commences at the carpark just to the other side of the bridge over the River Ythan (NGR 003 270) at Newburgh. Walk SE’wards ignoring a path going off to the left (NGR 005 268) and after a while, cross the dunes towards the sea and head for Hackley Bay. Keep on the path NE’wards to soon arrive at Colliestone. Continue NE’wards from St Catherines Dub car park (NGR 042 287) along the cliff top path past old Slains Castle, Broad Haven, Bruces Haven to arrive at Whinnyfold. Drop down on to the beach at the Bay of Cruden and walk to the village of Cruden Bay (NGR 092 362), crossing a wooden bridge at the north end of the bay (NGR 092 361). Our bus will at Cruden Bay (NGR 091 363) car park Distance approx. 11 miles
