Glen Doll/Driesh and Mayar Circular OS map 44 (Ballater)
15th May 2022 Bus departs Aberdeen at 08.00am
Walkers attending the above walk for Mayar & Driesh should be advised that the 2nd pick-up point on Great Southern Road adjacent to Allanvale cemetery has been changed for this walk only as the Kilt Walk is being held on that Sunday.
The revised pick-up point will be on Riverside Drive near its junction with Holburn Street. This change is for this walk only & will revert to usual location on Great Southern Road on walks following from this one.
Walkers with cars should note that there should be ample free parking on the “spur” of Riverside Drive which heads in the direction of the Bridge of Dee.
Route 1 Driesh and Mayar
From the car park follow the road west for 1km before crossing a bridge to the left
taking a signed track uphill before taking narrow path s.w at NO 274578 following path
through the trees and up the Shank of Drumfollow. At NO 259739 turn left to ascend
to trig point on Driesh before returning to same point initially on a bearing 265 degrees
to reach top of path, continuing west and up onto Mayar NO 241738.
Descend due north to reach a stream and follow path downhill through Corrie Fee
to a gate into wooded area. On reaching a wide track turn right (east); follow track
crossing a bridge over the White Water passing Glendoll Lodge and Mountain rescue
Post to reach car park where the bus will be.
Walking distance approx.10 miles / 16km 2500ft / 750m assent.

Route 2 Glen Doll
On leaving the bus walk westward till the first bridge at Glen Doll Lodge NO 278762, cross bridge and take riverside trail on the right. Follow this till vehicle track at second bridge, follow track for 400 metres and take track to the right. Continue along track which eventually narrows to reach a footbridge at NO 263756, cross this and follow narrow trail which is in open area. The shelter known as “Davies` Boorachie” is at NO 234777 about 2km (1 mile) beyond the edge of wooded area. Return the way you came out.
Walking distance approx 8 miles / 12.5km 1500ft / 457m assent.
