Today’s through walk takes us from Glen Isla crossing Badandun Hill, Craig Lair, Mid Hill, Bawhelps, South Craig and Mayar to descend into Glen Doll.
Main Walk:- The walk starts near Little Forter in Glen Isla at NGR187648. The track heads NorthEastwards following the Cateran Trail for approx.1 mile/1.6km. At NGR197658 leave the Cateran Trail and take the track on the left heading Northwards to Cuingard and then NorthEastwards to climb Badandun Hill (740m). From the summit descend NorthEastwards and then Northwards to climb over Craig Lair (711m), Mid Hill (774m), Bawhelps (830m) and South Craig (835m). From the summit of South Craig continue Northwards for approx. 0.5 mile/0.8km to NGR233749, leave the track and head Eastwards to climb the Munro top of Mayar (928m). Continue Eastwards to NGR259739 to head NorthEastwards down the Shank of Drumfollow into Glen Doll. Follow the White Water Eastwards to cross a bridge at Glendoll Lodge and continue Eastwards to reach the visitor centre and car park. The bus will be parked in the car park or across the road bridge over the River South Esk NGR 286761.

Min elevation: 251 m
(Only if time allows walkers may wish to take in the 2nd Munro of Driesh (947m) an additional 2miles/3.2km and approx. 1 hour plus walking time there and back from the top of the Shank of Drumfollow).
Shorter Walk:-Those wishing to do a shorter walk should take the bus round to Braedownie. Walk through the car park passing the visitor centre and follow Jock’s Road Westwards up Glen Doll on the North bank of the White Water as far as NGR248768. Take the path on the left to cross a footbridge over the White Water and head eastwards on the South bank of the river. The track crosses a bridge over the Fee Burn and continues Eastwards to a bridge over the White Water near Glendoll Lodge. Continue on the outward track back to the bus.
