Lednathie Circular – Cat Law & Long Goat

Our walk today takes us to the Angus Glens to climb two of the lower hills between Glen Isla and Glen Prosen.

The walk starts in Glen Prosen at the hamlet of Easter Lednathie (NGR 340631).
From Easter Lednathie , head South on the road for a short distance to reach a track at (NGR 342628) which climbs in a southerly direction, skirting a wooded area and on up to Peat Shank. Continue along the ridge in an easterly direction to reach the top of Long Goat (571m) (NGR 339613). From this summit point continue back along along the ridge in a westerly direction and climb to the summit cairn and trig point of Cat Law (671m) (NGR319611)

From the summit head North westwards and descend to meet and cross a track on Bodandere Hill (538m). Continue in a westerly direction towards Hill of Stanks where you will reach a track at (NGR293613). Then head northwest towards Glen Quharity and follow the landrover track (at NGR288623) for approximately 2Kms passing Clinking Cauldron and traversing the shoulder of Tarapetmile.
At NRG295643 head easterly along Glen Uig following the burn to reach Wester Lednathie Farm (NGR 327630). Continue on the secondary road to arrive at the hamlet of Easter Lednathie where our bus will be parked.
Walking Distance : Approx. 11 Miles (18 Kms)

Shorter Alternative Walk :
From the drop-off point at (NGR 355619) follow the route shown above climbing via Peat Shank and continuing along the ridge to Long Goat and onwards (as above) to Cat Law (671m NGR 319611).
Descend northwest to meet the track near Bodandere Hill. At (NGR 309617) head north easterly passing the shoulder of Monthrey and descend through the woods to reach Wester Lednathie Farm.
Then onwards by the secondary road to Easter Lednathie where the bus will be parked.
Walking Distance : Approx. 6 Miles (10 Kms)
