Today’s walk is a spur of the Speyside Way starting near Mill of Tormore and finishing in the village of Tomintoul. Look out for and follow (in the correct direction) the Speyside Way marker posts.
Route 1:- The bus will drop us off at an unclassified road, sign posted to Auldich, near Mill of Tormore on the B9008. Take the minor road Eastwards passing the farm of Auldich and then pass a small car park on the right to soon turn right (South) at a fork in the track marked with the Speyside Way symbol. The route passes to the East of Cainacay and splits again at a marker post, take the track on the right to climb over Hill of Deskie. Continue downhill to go through a gate and then turn left along a narrow path between fields. At the next corner turn right, then left to skirt round the back of a house and reach a lane. Turn left and then right at Deskie to follow the lane steeply downhill soon reaching Glenlivet Public Hall. Turn left at the road junction, there is a path on the right hand side of the road, to soon reach a waymark sign to turn right and cross the River Livet at a suspension footbridge. Turn left to pass the Glenlivet distillery, continue up the road to turn right to pass Glenlivet House and then turn left to reach a small car park. Follow the way marked track on the left which passes between Carn Ghrantaich and Carn Liath and crosses the moorland to climb Carn Daimh (570m). Continue downhill to cross Cairn Ellick and soon turn right at a track junction to cross the Chabet Water at a footbridge. At NGR 177205 turn right to reach a minor road, turn left and soon right to a footbridge over the Conglass Water. Climb the steps at the far side to turn left on a track which soon reaches the main A939 road. Turn left onto a path in the trees and walk into Tomintoul where the bus will be parked in a parking area near the centre of the village.

Route 2:- Continue on the bus and get off near the Glenlivet Public Hall near Bridge of Tombreckachie. Follow the route notes above and Speyside Way waymarkers to Tomintoul.

Route 3:- Continue on the bus to Tomintoul and walk up the main street (Southeast) and turn left into Delnabo Road. Continue on the road to a junction and take the track on the left marked “Tomintoul country walk”. Continue on this track, which follows the East bank of the River Avon, to cross a bridge on the right to Delavorar. Continue to cross a bridge over the Water of Ailnack and turn right to cross another bridge over the River Avon. Continue on the road which leads back to Tomintoul.
