Today’s walk starts at the parking area at Keiloch and heads Westwards following the North side of the river Dee to the Linn of Quoich and The Punch Bowl. We then head up Glen Quoich, cross over Clais Fhearnaig , descend into Glen Lui to walk to the finish at Linn of Dee.
Walk 1:- From the start point at Keiloch NGR 188914 take the track Westwards to soon pass Invercauld House on the left, continue to pass Balnagower Cottage and Allanmore to reach Allanaquoich. Take the track on the right to soon cross a footbridge over the Quoich Water, NGR 114913 to reach “The Punch Bowl” a large hole carved out by the flow of the river. Legend states that the Earl of Mar poured strong spirit into the punch bowl which was then used to toast the Jacobite cause in 1715. Continue NW up Glen Quoich, with the river Quoich on the right, to reach NGR 080937 where we take the track on the left Westwards, which climbs uphill over moorland to reach the Clais Fhearnaig (hollow place of the alders). Continue on the path through the Clais Fhearnaig passing a number of small lochans before descending into Glen Lui. Eventually the path reaches the main track between Derry Lodge and the Linn of Dee NGR 059923. Turn left, South, to soon cross a bridge over the Lui Water and continue on this track back to the Linn of Dee. Alternatively to take the more scenic way back which follows the Lui Water, at NGR 064907 take a path on the left which follows the West bank of the Lui Water, passing waterfalls and a salmon ladder, to reach a minor road, turn right to soon reach the parking area at Linn of Dee where the bus will be parked.

Walk Distance – Approx 13 miles/21 km
Walk 2:- Follow route as per Walk 1 above as far as the Punch Bowl, from there pick up a track which climbs up the west bank of the Quoich and heads Southwards to soon reach the minor road between Linn of Dee and Allanaquoich. Cross the road to pick up a track on the left heading SouthWestwards to reach the North bank of the river Dee, continue Westwards past the Victoria Bridge to soon pass the front of Mar Lodge. Take the track on the left to reach the minor road near Claybokie. Continue on the road Westwards to reach the parking area at Linn of Dee.

Walk Distance – Approx. 10.1 miles/16 km
Walk 3:- Continue on the bus, which will travel to the end point at Linn of Dee, and get off near the Victoria Bridge NGR 102895. Cross over the bridge and take the track on the left to reach the front of Mar Lodge. Take the track on the left to reach the minor road near Claybokie, turn left to soon pick up a track on the right heading NorthWestwards climbing through the trees. Continue to reach the Linn of Dee to Derry Lodge track, turn left to cross the bridge over the Lui Water and continue on this track to reach the parking area at Linn of Dee.
