Walk 1. Culardoch

From the car park at Keiloch (Grid Ref. NO 188 914)  go North Westwards along a tarred road in the direction of Invercauld House until reaching the junction  at Grid Ref. NO 176 924 approx. At the junction leave the road & take the path to the right signposted for Tomintoul. After a short distance take the left hand path at the junction  & head Northwards for about 5.5 miles to the path to the right which accesses the summit of Culardoch (900m). From the summit head Eastwards into Glen Fearder to pick up the path heading South westwards. Follow this path downwards to a y junction at Grid Ref. NO 191 971 & take the left hand track South Eastwards which goes around around the west side of Bhonich (633m) & then onwards to Auchtavan. Continue  on this path, passing the ruin of Ratlich & further on passing Balmore & Balnoe to join a main track at approx. Grid Ref. NO 214 936. From here head South Westwards on a wide track passing the small building at Felagie & onwards to the bus at Keiloch.

This walk can be shortened by retracing your steps from the top or by taking the right hand track at the Y junction at Grid Ref. NO 191 971. This route heads South West & eventually joins the incoming route used for the ascent of Culardoch which shortens the walk by about 1.25 miles (2km).

From the car park take the road heading North Eastwards in the direction of Felagie but leave the track at Grid Ref. NO 190 917 & head North Westwards up a wide track which soon climbs through the forest towards Jimmy Bremner’s (late of AHWC) bench (there is a bench further on dedicated to the memory of Willie Robb, also a former member of our club). Continue on this track & take the upper right hand path at the Y junction (Grid Ref. NO 184 922). The path eventually veers left & winds downhill until it reaches the Fog House at a junction of paths (Grid Ref. NO 178 925) From here take the path  Northwards to a path which eventually veers Eastwards along the South side of Meall Gorm & then climbs Southerly from Grid Ref. 183 940 approx. on a faint track to the summit of Craig Leek. From the summit retrace your steps to regain main track & continue Eastwards at first then South Eastwards downhill on a good path (not marked on the map) to eventually gain the main track at Grid Ref. NO 197 925 approx. Turn right & head South Westwards, passing Felagie on the way, to reach the bus parked at Keiloch car park.
