Walk Notes

The walk commences on the B977 Raemoir/Echt road near the farm of Wester Tillyshogle where a forestry track leaves the road on the west side and heads uphill into the trees (NGR 743.036). After a couple of hundred yards a T junction in the track is reached where the track to the right is taken. This contours the hillside in a north-westerly direction to a junction of tracks near a high voltage overhead power line crossing.
Take the left hand track at this junction which climbs up above the Landerberry Burn and, emerging from the trees, skirts the edge of the forest to the right heading towards the 393m (1298ft) top called Greymore. The track then turns south westwards heading for the 433 m (1420ft) top called Blackydubs. At this point it may be possible to contour north westwards to a top at NGR.680.036 458m. Tornamean.
Alternatively continue on the track which continues southwards round the hollow containing the Burn of Corrichie to a t-junction near a bothy on the Hill of Corrfeidley at NGR.678.018.
The highest point of the hill 471m (1545ft) which is a fairly insignificant bump on an otherwise level moor, is reached by turning right here and taking the track running first west and then northwest for 1 1/4miles. From there head north eastwards to Tornamean
Head downhill north eastwards to a track at the edge of the trees at NGR.691.042. Follow this track continuing downhill through the trees continuing straight ahead at 1st junction and taking right hand turn at next junction to Craigshannoch at NGR.697.048.
From there take the farm road to the right which descends northwards passing Midmar Castle and manor house before coming out in the B9119 Echt to Midmar road near a church. The road to the right leads in a couple of hundred yards to the Midmar Inn (NGR 706.057) where the bus will be parked.
