Walk Notes


Today’s walk takes us to Loch Lee between Glen Effock and Glen Mark in Angus. Three walks are suggested, two of which take in the Falls of Damff.

 

Walk 1 – Gleneffock to Auchronie via Falls of Damff.

The walk starts at the access road to Glen Effock (NO 459 790). Take the south-westerly road then the right-hand track at the junction at NO 451 785. Follow this track over Cairn Caidloch and Burnt Hill to reach a junction at NO409 784. Take the path to the right to reach Inchgrundle at the top of Loch Lee (NO 411 791) and turn left.  Continue toward Cairn Lick and turn right at NO 394 783 to walk in a north-westerly direction and pick up a track near the Falls of Damff (NO 386 790).  Follow the northerly track to reach the Water of Lee at NO 395 804.  Turn right here to follow the track that leads to Loch Lee.  At the eastern end of the loch (NO 430 802) take the right-hand track to reach the car park at Auchronie (NO 448 804).

Walk 2 – Auchronie circular via Falls of Damff

Stay on the bus to alight at the car park at Auchronie (NO 448 804).  From here, walk in a westerly direction to reach Loch Lee and continue past the junction at NO 412 796 to cross the Water of Lee at NO 395 804 then continue in a westerly then southerly direction to reach the Falls of Damff.  At NO 386 790, walk in a south-easterly direction past Cairn Lick to a junction at NO 3094 783.  Turn left and follow the path to a junction at Inchgrundle (NO 411 791); turn left here and follow the track to reach the junction with the incoming track at the top of Loch Lee (NO 802 797).  Turn right to retrace your track to the car park (NO 448 804).

Walk 3 – Gleneffock to Auchronie via Loch Lee

The walk starts at the access road to Glen Effock (NO 459 790). Take the south-westerly road then the right-hand track at the junction at NO 451 785. Follow this track over Cairn Caidloch and Burnt Hill to reach a junction at NO409 784. Take the path to the right to reach Inchgrundle at the top of Loch Lee (NO 411 791) and continue to reach the Water of Lee at the western end of Loch Lee (NO 412 796).  Turn right to follow the northern shore of the loch and continue to reach the car park at Auchronie.

Bus departs 4.30pm to arrive in  Aberdeen around 7.00pm
