Today’s circular walk is from Braenaloin on theB976 old military road between Deeside and Donside. The walk is mainly on good tracks taking in the summit of Geallaig Hill before descending to walk above the River Gairn.

Main Walk:- The walk starts at Braenaloin NGR 280 000 on the B976 road, walk down the road for a short distance to a land rover track on the right, which climbs  SouthEastwards to gain the summit of Geallaig Hill. 743m/2437ft. From the summit return on the same track for a short distance to pick up a track on the left heading SouthWest downhill to a junction at NGR 276975. Take the track on the right which continues downhill over the 568m hill to reach the B976 road. Turn left SouthWest and walk along the road for approx. 0.5mile/0.8km to a track on the right at NGR 261 982. This track heads NorthWest crossing the Coulach an Burn then North to pass Blairglass. Continue on this track to NGR 248 008 just East of Daldownie. Take the track on the right which follows the River Gairn and passes Rineten to return to our start point at Braenaloin.

Short Walk:- Walk along the River Gairn and return. From the start at Braenaloin cross the road and take the track NorthWest which passes Rineten and follows the River Gairn Westwards passing Daldownie to reach a bridge over the river. Return by the same route. This walk can be shortened by returning at any point.
