Walk Notes

Today’s walk takes us on a section of the famous Speyside Way. Alistair Condie suggested this walk and it was included in our programme for 2012. We will be dropped off in the town of Fochabers (NGR 341 595), near the A96 Aberdeen to Inverness road bridge over the River Spey and we will follow the Speyside Way waymark posts southwards along the east side of the Spey. If any member(s) require(s) a shorter walk, please advise you Committee member in charge of the bus today, so that early discussion can take place with the driver.

From the bus, head southwards along the waymarked path of the Speyside Way. You will pass, Ordiquish, Culfoldie, Newtack before crossing the Burn of Mulben to arrive at Boat o’ Brig (NGR 319 518).  Pass under the railway line and continue basically S’wards, although your route does zigzag intermittently, before entering the forest where our route veers westerly after crossing the Allt Daley. Our route then veers S’wards after crossing the Sandyhill Burn and continues in this direction passing Arndilly farm and onwards to Arnadilly House, before crossing the River Fiddoch at a bridge to arrive at Craigellachie (NGR 285 446) where our bus will be parked at a convenient place.
