Today’s walk takes us into Fife to climb the Lomond Hills, West and East Lomond.

Main Walk:- We start the walk at Balgedie Farm located in the small hamlet of Easter Balgedie NGR172036 on the A911 Milnathort/Glenrothes road. Take the track heading Northwest passing the farm buildings on the left. The track soon turns Northwards and after approx. 0.8km meets the Wester Balgedie/Glenlomond  road. Continue on the road for a short distance to NGR169047 and turn right through a metal gate to follow a farm track up the hillside. The track soon turns left, Northwards, to reach Glen Vale. Follow the Glen Burn Eastwards to NGR193056 and take a path Northwards to climb West Lomond (522m). From the summit Trig point take the track Northeastwards then Eastwards passing Miller’s Loch on the right to reach a picnic site at NGR228063. Cross the minor road and continue Eastwards to climb East Lomond (424m) with good views of Falkland Palace to the North. From the top a path leads Eastwards down passing communication masts near Purin Hill. Continue on the road downhill to reach the A912 Glenrothes/Falkland road NGR272062. Turn left and follow the road (Busy road, take care of passing traffic) for approx 200m to take a footpath on the right which leads into the village of Freuchie. As you reach the first houses in the village cross the footbridge on the right which leads into the village where the bus will be parked near the hotel/village centre.
