Today, we are back on Speyside to walk along part of the “Speyside Way”. Alan Wallace suggested this basically, flattish walk and your Committee included it in the 2016 Programme.
This walk is a through-walk, so members who require a shorter or different walk – please indicate your intentions with your committee member in charge of the bus.
The walk commences at Cragganmore (NGR 167 366) on the B 9137 road, just to the west of Ballindalloch Castle. Follow the “Speyside Way” path along the south side of the River Spey, W’wards to approx. NGR 148 363. Go left here and follow the “Speyside Way” waymarkers towards Tormore and the A95 main road. Continue on the “Speyside Way” passing the Burn of Coire Seileach and the north side of the Woods of Knockfrink. Continue W’wards past Balnallan, cross the A95 main road (with care) and follow the “Speyside Way” towards Garbh alt Mor. At NGR 070 286, on the dismantled railway line, turn right on to an unclassified road and cross the River Spey on a road bridge. Go SW’wards on the “Speyside Way” passing Nether Port and after a couple of miles arrive at Grantown-on-Spey, where our bus will be parked nearby (NGR 034 276).
Walking distance approx. 14 miles
Bus departs at 6.30pm.
In the event of an emergency arising, the person in charge of the outing should be contacted, if possible, before the police are contacted.
Relevant telephone number for Morayshire police is 101 (non-emergency) or 999.
Committee member in charge today is Alan Wallace
