There is limited parking for the bus at the start of the walk so could members please be prepared and ready to alight the bus promptly and make their way safely to the start.
Walk 1 details:-
The walk commences at NGR 320 517 on the B9103 Mulben/Orton road near the Aberdeen/Elgin railway bridge at Boat o’Brig. From here walk south-west up a farm road for a short distance then turn left at NGR 319 516 towards Bridgeton Farm following the track around the left of the house/farm. Turn left at about NGR 320 512 walk until you reach the entrance to the forest on the right at NGR 324 512 (waymarked for the Speyside Way). Walk another very short distance until you reach a junction in the paths at NGR 324 511. Turn right and walk in a south-westerly direction along the paths that zig-zag through the forest crossing the Allt Daley on the route. At a junction in the paths at NGR 300 493 you can turn left to walk to the summit of Ben Aigan (NGR 310 482). There is a clearing in the forest to allow you to enjoy the views of Speyside. To return to the main route retrace your steps back to NGR 300 493. Back at the main path turn left and continue to walk in a south-westerly direction, crossing Sandyhill Burn, towards the river Spey near Arndilly Farm (NGR 285 479) where the path turns south-east around the edge of the forest passing Arndilly House (NGR 291 472) and on to a fork in the path at NGR 296 464. At this junction take the right-hand path and continue south passing Dandaleith until you reach the village of Craigellachie. On reaching Craigellachie cross the A95 road bridge (NGR 293 452). Join the path here to Dufftown (which is an old railway track bed) and turn left and walk south-east along the River Fiddich, crossing a foot bridge then along the Speyside Way beside the north bank of the River Fiddich. Cross a bridge at NGR 309 446, then walk south-east towards Dufftown. The walk finishes at the car park near Balvenie Distillery on the outskirts of Dufftown where the bus will be parked (NGR 321 417).
