32 intrepid walkers started out on a grey morning from Aberdeen to Loch Muick hoping that the weather would improve enough to see some of the fantastic scenery in the area. The bus dropped us off at the car park and soon we all split into 3 main parties, 1 headed around the South of the Loch to climb Broad Cairn, another walked round the loch keeping to a low level and our group headed up the tourist path towards Lochnagar itself. The weather relented enough so that we got fantastic views into the corrie and the cliffs of the mountain and then a bracing windy walk along the plateau got us to the top for dramatic views over the Deeside valley. A walk into the Glass Alt valley took us past the waterfall in full spate which is always a fantastic sight, then down to the royal lodge and a 3km walk back to the bus. A great day out again with the AHWC which was topped off with a well earned refreshment in Ballater before dropping us all back in Aberdeen. Tork
