There were 33 members on today’s walk. We had a comfort stop at Morrison’s in Dundee before going over the Tay Bridge on our way to Kingsbarns, where 10 members got off to do a shorter walk to St Andrews. Colin Chapman got on the bus and we made our way to Crail. The weather was dry but windy, some members had an early lunch before Kingsbarns while others stopped at the picnic area at Cambo Sands, some also had an ice-cream from the “Cone of Golf” ice-cream van. We continued on the walk with lots of ups and downs along the way, we passed The Buddo Rock with it’s natural arch and The Rock and Spindle – a rock pinnacle. Colin spotted what he thought was an osprey, but 2 twitchers nearby identified it as a young sea eagle. When we reached St Andrews we still had a mile to reach the bus at the West Sands, refreshments were taken in St Andrews before our journey home. The bus left on time at 6pm but unfortunately the Tay Bridge was closed to all except cars because of the high winds, we had to take a detour via Perth adding an extra one and quarter hours to our return journey, arriving in Aberdeen by 9.15pm.
