There were 24 walkers on the bus with a picked up in Banchory. We had a slight detour round Banchory due to the Rememberence Day Parade taking place in the main street. We started the walk at the Potarch car park where some went to look at the 2 granite Dinnie Stones, a combined weight of 773lbs!! The route followed the Deeside Way, offering a mixture of woodland paths and panoramic views. Most walkers choose to go over Scolty (299m) and climb the spiral staircase to the top of General Burnett’s Monument rewarding climbers with views of the surrounding countryside. Although rain was forecast, it held off until later in the walk and had cleared by the time we returned to Banchory. Some went for refreshments in the town and we left half an hour early with Kyle, our driver having us back in Aberdeen by 4.15pm. Fiona
