There were 25 walkers out on our trip to Dunkeld and Loch Ordie today as well as a chance to summit Deuchary Hill if walkers wanted to tackle this. A quick refreshment break at Brechin Castle Visitor Centre and then we were at Dunkeld.
Various groups formed with their own objectives: some wanted to walk up to Loch Ordie and enjoy lunch on the shore. Others wanted to tackle Deuchary Hill either traversing it to get to the far shore of Loch Ordie or go up and back again and then round the Southern Loch Ordie shore, while others walked round Loch Ordie. Deuchary Hill itself looked quite imposing on the walk to it but the climb, while steep, was over quickly and worth it for the fantastic panoramic views of the nearby lochs and distant hills.
The weather treated us very well with sunshine and some slight clouds all day. Everything was green, hydrangeas were in bloom, young animals were on the go and it was just good to be out. Some were lucky to see deer including two adults and their little foal from the top of Deuchary Hill.
All walkers were back before the allotted finish time so there was time to head into Dunkeld itself for some well needed and well-earned refreshments from the hotel bar, store or fish and chip shop depending on your fancy. Many thanks to Peter, our driver, who took care of us on the whole journey including navigating some narrow roads and speed bumps on the way to/from the Dunkeld car park and he had us back in Aberdeen before our scheduled finished time.
Many thanks to all walkers for making this trip. We hope you enjoyed your day, and we will see you next time!
Mo and David.
