There were 26 walkers on the bus leaving Aberdeen, and one person picked up at Kingswells. The weather leaving Aberdeen was rather grey and damp, but with a forecast for better weather later on, some brave walkers had opted for shorts. There was rain during the journey, but after a comfort stop in Aboyne we arrived at Cockbridge in dry but misty weather. All except three walkers alighted at Cockbridge; most were headed for the walk through the Eag, with a smaller group taking the alternative. After a drive through the fog up the road to Tomintoul, one walker alighted at Blairnamarrow for a shorter route to Tomintoul, while two people went on to Tomintoul for circular walks. As forecast, the mist cleared to give brighter weather in the afternoon. The walk through the Eag proved to be quite strenuous, so refreshing drinks or ice cream were enjoyed by everyone on their return. Everyone was back in good time, so we left earlier than scheduled and arrived back in Aberdeen at 7 o’clock.
