With a busy bus of 28 walkers we headed North to the Buchan coast for our 2nd walk of the year.

Weather was cold and windy, although thankfully it was in our backs for most of the walk.

27 Walkers were dropped off at the old chapel on the road down to Rattray Head Lighthouse and walked the rest of the way down to the beach to follow the sand all the way along to Peterhead golf course.  Luckily the tide was out which allowed large sections on harder sand to make the walking easier going.  A slight detour was needed at the end of St Fergus Gas Terminal to pick up a bridge to allow us to cross a burn outlet which also gave us some shelter in the dunes for a lunch stop.

Upon reaching Peterhead most of the group followed the coast round through Buchanhaven where we saw the air ambulance that some had watched land as they were coming along the beach.

All walkers were back at the bus earlier than time allowed and refreshments were had in some of the local pubs and cafes before our return to Aberdeen ahead of our 5pm scheduled arrival.
