With a good turn out of 30 walkers we headed up Deeside to Braemar and the Cairnwell Ski Centre for our walk to visit the 3 Munros of Glas Maol,Carn of Claise and Carn an Tuirc.
The day showed promise with the hope for good weather.
25 walkers set off from the large car park at Cairnwell, though there was a cold blustery wind and low clouds over the tops.
The bus then headed to Baddoch to drop off 3 walkers choosing the lower level route through the hills toward Loch Callater and the bothy. The remaining walker did a shorter walk from Auchallater car park where the bus stayed for the remainder of the day.
The main party were engulfed in low mist on the high tops and required navigational skills to negotiate the 3 tops before descending to Loch Callater bothy and onwards to Auchallater. The day was relatively dry however with only a short squally shower.
All returned safely and on time which allowed a short refreshment stop at Braemar before our onward journey to Aberdeen. We would have normally stopped at Ballater on the way home however the town was extremely busy celebrating Victoria Week and therefore Braemar was a quicker and better option.
We had a number of new walkers out today and they all appeared to enjoy the experience.
