Our yearly visit to Loch Muick kicked off under gloomy skies in Aberdeen—but as we arrived at Loch Muick, the clouds parted and we were greeted by glorious sunshine. Classic Scottish weather magic!
🚶♂️ A total of 23 walkers joined the trip, with most setting their sights on conquering Lochnagar. For a few, it was their first time tackling this majestic Munro—and a special shoutout to Rieke, who bagged her very first Munro ever. Huge congratulations!
🥾 Not everyone went for Lochnagar—some opted for a scenic stroll around Loch Muick itself, soaking in the views at a gentler pace. One brave soul took on Broad Cairn for the first time, while another set off along the Capel Mounth path before detouring to explore a couple of other hills. A proper mix of routes and adventures!
🦌 Wildlife was out in full force: we spotted herds of deer, a few snakes, some grouse, and of course… the ever-persistent Scottish midges. I’m currently sporting 18 bites and counting. ☹
😄 Everyone made it back to the bus with smiling faces and evidence of having been in the sun all day ahead of our 6:30 pm departure. We had a refreshment/food stop in Ballater before heading home.
🚌 We were back into Aberdeen around 8:30 pm—slightly ahead of schedule, tired but happy after another brilliant day in the hills.
