This was our first walk of the 2026–27 programme, and we had an excellent turnout with 32 walkers, including several joining us for the first time. The weather was overcast and rainy from the start, so waterproofs went on early — a wise decision, as conditions didn’t improve throughout the day. Most members opted for the main walk, with two choosing shorter alternatives. As we followed the coast past Scrurdie Ness Lighthouse, the wind strengthened, prompting several walkers to cut inland for some shelter. A few managed to find refuge at a ruined building for lunch, while two others had lunch at the ruins of the Chapel of St. Skae. Despite the challenging weather, everyone returned on time. The skies finally cleared on our journey home, and we arrived back in Aberdeen half an hour ahead of schedule. Fiona
