With a bus full of 25 walkers we headed off from Aberdeen down the east coast to Fife for one of our easier walks of the year.
1 walker was dropped off at the Tay Bridge Car park to enjoy a short walk along towards Tayport and back. 22 walkers were dropped off for the main walk to pick up the Fife costal path at Leuchars, where despite the clouds it wasn’t long before the temperature rose and jackets were cast off for the day.
The walk followed the airstrip then along open grassy areas before reaching Tentsmuir Forest. Unfortunately due to the winter storms the path through the forest was closed but the diversion was followed. The costal path route was picked up again at Lundin Bridge where the main group met in with the remaining 2 walkers who had taken the bus to Tayport and walked along the beach path to Tentsmuir Point.
Lunch was well earned by this point and was enjoyed with views over towards Broughty Ferry and Monifieth. We were then back on our way through Tayport where we dreamed of owning a boat like those docked in the harbour and had the added luxury of a real toilet in the middle of a walk.
It was then just a short walk up the Tay towards the road bridge and our finishing point. Having met the walker dropped off at the bridge in the morning along the last stretch all the group returned to the bus in good time and departed for home, arriving back in Aberdeen 30 minutes ahead of scheduled arrival 😃 Wendy
