We set off last Sunday for a walk in Morayshire. There were 21 of us on the bus that left Aberdeen. We picked up 1 extra passenger at Inverurie, and 1 more at Dufftown who had travelled from Braemar to meet up with us. Unfortunately we had not picked up a good day for walking. The weather was to say the least dreich with constant drizzle during the day, and mist at the top of the hills. However, it didn’t dampen people’s spirits. Most of the walkers walked up to the top of Ben Rinnes even though it was shrouded in mist all day. Some of us decided to stick to the lower level path which went round the bottom of the hill. At the other end of Ben Rinnes the party split again, some going up the neighbouring Meikle Conval and the others again sticking to the lower level path through the woods. One hardy soul decided to take on Little Conval as well. We all met up again at Dufftown Golf Club car park where the bus was parked. Unfortunately the club bar was closed, so when we were altogether again we decided to do a pub stop in Dufftown for half an hour before leaving for Aberdeen. We arrived back in Aberdeen about 4.30pm, a bit damp but no worse for it.
